August 2020 Wrap Up

awu

Another month had passed, we are still on quarantine and Covid-19 cases are still increasing. I hope you all are doing well. Stay safe guys! Wear face mask, face shield, wash your hand regularly, and practice social distancing.

In the month of August I read 7 books in total. That was a lot for me, I usually read 3-5 books per month but since I have plenty of time reading I got to finished 7 books.

Regarding on Wikathon, I just finished 3 out of 6 books in my TBR. Sorry about that. I would still love to read the 3 remaining books.

Anyway, let’s get started on my August Wrap Up.

Amazon.com: Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets (8580001045948): J. K. Rowling, Mary GrandPré: Books

Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets

I really enjoyed this book. It was a fun story. My goal is to finish one Harry Potter book every month. I can’t wait to have another fun adventure with the trio this September.

Alamat ng Gubat

This is included in my Wikathon TBR, it is a short Tagalog book written by my favorite Filipino author. It is a hilarious book but if you study the story itself, you’ll know what the author really wants to say about the Philippine government and society.

The Bone Witch

This is completely new to me especially the world building. I had a hard time adjusting on the book but I still enjoyed it because of the things happening in the story, imagine being a witch who can resurrect dead people and can control daevas. How cool is that? And I love how the author include the topic of equality in men and women.

Patron Saints of Nothing

This is a reread for me. I read this on its publication year, when the book was released on bookstores I immediately went to Fullybooked and grab a copy. I really love this book, it was an eye opener on the things happening in Philippines under President Duterte’s administration.

The Boyfriend Bracket by Kate Evangelista

The Boyfriend Bracket

It was not my intention to read this book but I luckily won a giveaway from the author and I immediately read it since it was only a short book. By the way, the author of this book is a Filipino. It was a light and cute story, I almost had a reading slump while reading plenty of books at the same time but this book saved me. Maybe light and fun contemporary books is my savior when I’m in reading slump. LOL

Vampires of Portlandia by Jason Tanamor

For now, all I can say about this book is it is written by a Filipino author. If you want to know what this book is all about I’ll put its goodreads link below. I was given a chance to join the blog tour of this book so come and stop by in my blog on September 20. Big thanks to Shealea for hosting the blog tour and Mr. Jason Tanamor for giving me an ARC.
